She was born on March 25, 1948, in New York City, where she began her career as a ballet dancer before pursuing acting. Bonnie trained at the HB Studio and the Actors Studio, which equipped her with solid theatrical skills. Before entering Hollywood, she performed in many stage productions and television series.
One of her most memorable performances includes playing Holly Gennero McClane, the wife of the character played by Bruce Willis in the Die Hard films.
