Kristi Noem is an American politician who currently serves as governor of South Dakota. One of the more connected individuals in the conservative world, Noem came to fame first as a U.S. Congresswoman. She captured the public's attention in 2018 when she ran and won the elections to become the Governor of her state.
With her track record of advocating for less government intervention, free-market capitalism, and rural populism, she is a representative of the Republican Party. Endorsements and opponents alike praised and criticized her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she opposed forcing her citizens to stay indoors and wear facial coverings as a polarizing leader.
Outside of the political arena, Noem has published a book titled Not My First Rodeo: Lessons from the Heartland, which provides details from her life, both personal and professional. Growing up on a ranch contributes a lot to how people perceive her image—she emphasizes hard work, discipline, and core American values.
Her branded Western outfits equally enhance her public image – Noem is often seen in fitted blazers, denim skirts, and cowgirl boots. This style of tough-looking women has given her the status of a conservative fashion icon. Even though some of her policies have stirred controversy, Noem firmly remains a rising power in American politics.
